Background

Current Occupation:  Full time Student /  Executive STEAM Youth Director

Biography

I’m 16 years old and am currently in Year 12 studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Product Design.

I really love to help people and that is why I chose the path of Engineering. Just making products and designing them knowing that they would help someone in the future gives me the encouragement to continue pursuing Product Design. I also like space physics and really complicated topics such as General relativity, string theory and quantum physics which I have researched on within my EPQ project through school.

I have many hobbies ranging from playing music on the keyboard to 3D modelling and coding on the laptop. Both allow the development of my skills from being able to imagine products in 3D and then replicating that on the laptop as well as refining concentration skills through music. Throughout my life, STEM has played an important role from shaping my mathematical problem solving skills to introducing me to the field of engineering and revolutionary physics theories.

My biggest achievement was my Product Design GCSE, where I successfully designed a leg brace for my neighbour which worked and supported his leg, helping him to walk outdoors. This project also won me the national Big Bang competition.

Topics and themes you would be happy to align with in The STEM Project

3D modelling, making, mathematical problems, physics theories

I’m open to also trying anything new within the STEM field.

How do you feel about joining The STEM Project as a STEAM Youth Director?

I am looking forward to working with my colleagues, but also learning from them. Which will allow me to broaden my knowledge. This will also help me for my future career in STEM.

What are your aims to achieve in this role?

I would like to reach out with designs and product ideas to everyone as well as encouraging younger audiences to get involved with STEM where I believe, the more creative side of STEM should be emphasised.

What would be your dream project and why?

I would love to make something that helps people in emergency situations and I am going to aim to do so for my A-level project for Product Design. I would also love to make my own go-kart from scratch with materials that are durable and then race with the go-kart. I am doing so this year but a much cheaper version that I won’t be able to race properly.

Why is STEM so important in education and business?

STEM is very important to education since it drives the fundamentals of society from the innovative technology to the algorithms and logic that forms the understanding of principles. STEM is not only logical but allows for creativity to thrive within business and education allowing for society to move forward and new ideas to be introduced to the market.

What do you want to do when you leave education?

I would like to work as an engineer to create new products and designs. Later on I would like to research and develop quantum technology since it is a field of technology that I am very interested in
