Amy has worked as a teacher, first ICT and then Computer Science, for over 18 years.
She has taught a wide range of students from across primary and secondary provisions mainly focusing on KS4 and KS5.
Amy has worked as a head of department and is currently splitting her time between the classroom and working with the National Centre of Computing Education.
Amy works closely with schools from across the her region to help support the teaching of Computing, along with facilitating professional development courses and writing course content.
Amy has a keen interest in physical computing and has recently got into 3D printing.
She is focused on how teachers can break down the barriers related to the teaching of Computer Science, and how to make the subject more inclusive.
I have worked on similar projects for other organisations but this is a new opportunity to work with a range of people in education AND industry, in relation to STEM.
Continuing to help students develop their understanding of STEM subjects and how they align to industry and careers.
Student perceptions regarding Computer Science,
I am keen to break down the barriers to learning. with physical computing. I want to see how this can be used to engage and motivate, not just to educate!
